Vanessa F. Fogel has lived in Germany, Israel, and the U.S., and loves belonging to these three dissimilar cultures.
She attended Cornell University where she graduated with a B.A. in Comparative Literature and a focus on Visual Studies. Intrigued by her studies of the role of art in society, Vanessa pursued an art-related career that combined the verbal and visual—working at art publications, with a leading gallery, and for an internationally acclaimed video artist.
Growing up with a family dedicated to the visual—architect parents, an illustrator older sister and a soon-to-be architect younger brother—and being more drawn to the ethereal, Vanessa always found solace and interest in the intricacies of writing, scribbling down reflections and notes-to-self on hands, arms and random napkins. She left post-its inbetween the pages of the books she was reading and developed crushes on fictional characters.
Vanessa’s life-long pursuit of the written has yielded a debut novel, which garnered the attention and praise of the Germany-speaking literary world when it came in 2010. Her second novel is scheduled to be released in 2014.
Vanessa also holds an M.A. in English with an emphasis on Creative Writing from Bar Ilan University and an Executive M.B.A. from Kellogg-Recanati.
